Obama Is The President, Not Emperor

And he proved that once more by accepting to reschedule his address to a joint session of congress on Sept. 8, after John Boehner refused the president's request for a Sept. 7 speech, since it was conflicting with a GOP presidential debate. Bill Press did not like this and this morning he devoted his show to “Obama’s caving down to GOP once more.” I however think, it is not weakness, rather strength of character and courteousness, that the President exhibited by staying over the pettiness of the Speaker of the House.

Never before, had a Speaker shown the audacity to rebuff a sitting President the way John Boehner repeatedly did. And never before a current US President has shown the humility like Obama has done, yet, I say it not weakness that we shall read from these actions of his, for it is easy in a high position to be confrontational and haughty. Rebuffing Obama once again, John Boehner demonstrated that he disrespected the office of the US President, and he is just but a small man—the President on the other hand has the moral superiority to overcome the emotional knee-jerk actions that a small man does.

So, Mr. Press, stop attacking Obama for the wrong reasons, he proved once more that he does not behave like an emperor.

Will Obama lose audience since his new timing runs into the opening game of the National Football League season? Is that the reason Boehner proposed the new time? White House communications director Dan Pfeiffer stated that Obama would finish his remarks before the NFL kickoff, set at 8:30 p.m. EDT. Is this accommodation a reality on the part of the White House that they have been pushed into a tight corner?

How is the President going to address the fact that the Republican lawmakers have bitterly opposed his agenda and have vowed to vote down any new spending that he might propose? How is he going to create jobs while cutting down expenses?
